  Hidden in a quiet plaza on Finch East Ave, Sun Star is a good place to get some Cantonese dishes rather than Congee Wong in North York. They serve traditional Canto food and they are particularly good at seafood. Like other reviews, I also find their portions smaller than other similar places. Anyways, the taste is always great.
  
  Service is usually quick but sometimes inconsistent. Like they forgot my request and I had to remind them a few times when it was busy.
  
  It seems they do not accept credit card any more as they posted "cash and debit only" on the menu and at the counter.
  
  I usually come here when Congee Wong is too busy and I only want a quiet nice meal but you can do better for Canto food in Scarborough.

  came here for dinner, waited 30min for this dish. Service sucks here, don't go unless you want to wait.

  My mother-in-law recommended this Chinese restaurant for dinner one night. I'm like where in the world is this place? I'm coming from Aurora lol. Turns out, it is a corner unit in the same plaza as Maxim's on Finch Avenue, with the big yellow sign in Chinese that says 翠景小炒.
  
  Sun Star Chinese Cuisine is a small, cozy, old school Hong Kong styled diner that serves affordable Chinese dishes, similar to the homey-style dishes I eat at home. Most of their popular dishes are all handwritten in Chinese calligraphy and tacked onto the wall... even I had a hard time reading and guessing the words lol. For English, please refer back to the menu.
  
  Dishes are usually $7 and up, and can be customized to your liking. For example, the Veggies stir-fry dish can be paired with chicken, beef, pork jowl or fish fillet. The creamy taro clay pot dish can be done with any meat of your choice as well. I even saw other customers coming in with their own fishes to be prepared and cooked in their kitchen. Super flexible here.
  
  Not a fancy spot, but it sure hits home with the cravings for Chinese food. And service is pretty fast! 3.5 stars.

  Went there for dinner on March 12th. Ordered Green bean with pork $8.99, Spicy salted shrimp $9.50. Fussy squash with vermicelli noodles with shrimp and baby scallops $10.99, steamed rice $1.75. A big bowl of complimentary pork bone soup. Total cost including tips and tax $40.59.
  The soup came first, with 2 big pieces of pork bones. Very tasty and tender. My favorite dish at this place. The Green bean with spicy pork came next, tender and tasty also. Truly stirred fried,  not boiled. The spicy shrimp was also delicious,  must have over 10 good sized shrimps. The photo was taken after we finished most of it!  Finally the Fussy squash hot pot, most expensive dish but I liked the least. It's more like a soup and not as tasty as i expected. The service was good. The place is a bit better than the normal greasy spoon place and i won't take clients there to impress them, unless they just want good food and don't care about the decor.
  The complimentary dessert was a cut up orange.
  Service 7/10 Food 8.5/10, Decor 6/10, Price 9/10
  Repeat: yes. Many times already!

  Personally I'm quite old school, so I definitely have a soft spot for these cantonese stir fry restaurants. Style wise this place resembles the now defunct Magic Walk or the New Choice Restaurant in Richmond Hill.
  
  I ordered chicken chow mein. The noodle was fried thoroughly with the right amount of crunch. Chicken had a decent texture and not over marinated like a lot of Chinese restaurant.  The sauce was not too goopy and had the right consistency.
  
  For $8.99 you get a fried rice or noodle with a cup of hk milk tea. The tea is alright. If you are in the area this place is not a bad cheap lunch option.
